Today was a beautiful day! A little chilly at 33 degrees, but beautiful none the less. By 7:00 the snowflakes were falling and I was enjoying a cup of coffee with my girls. The Handy man was a dear and went out and cut the cauliflower and broccoli. It was just too cold to have the girls outside today. We ended up with 8 qts of cauliflower and 6 qts of broccoli for the freezer, not too bad. I’m still not sure what the merits of the leek is over the onion but we got those in the dehydrator too. Maybe I’ll add some to a pot of corn chowder next time.
Sunshine and I had a great time baking cookies this afternoon. (chocolate chip) I did manage to get them all on the cookie sheet without her eating the dough. She loves to bake as much as I do. Once I asked her if she wanted to help me, I think it took her all of 30 seconds to go wash her hands and get our aprons from the pantry. Speaking of baking, I can’t wait to start Christmas baking! A few of the local grocery stores have baking goodies on sale this week. I’ve always found that the baking supplies for Christmas are usually on the best sales a few weeks before Thanksgiving. It’s about time to get the Christmas lists done on paper.
My favorite website for Christmas time planning is http://www.organizedchristmas.com. I’ve used it for the last 2 years and I’ve been pretty success in using some of their calendar pages to help tame the chaos of the holidays. I think I’ll get started right now!
Oh yeah, the cauliflower casserole was delicious!
